Dr Tulsi Dharel

Dr. Tulsi Dharel has been named one of the Canada’s Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Award recipients. He is among community leaders, entrepreneurs and philanthropists from across the country who will be recognized at award ceremonies in Toronto and in Vancouver.

This is the only national awards program that celebrates the inspiring achievements of Canadian immigrants. Thousands of nominations were received, from which 75 finalists were shortlisted by a diverse judging panel of past winners. The 25 winners were chosen based on a combination of nationwide online voting, with a record 65,000 votes cast, and a second round of judging.

Dr. Dharel was born in Nepal and immigrated to Canada in 2000. He attributes his successful Canadian integration to networking. His first Canadian position as a faculty member was at Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo. He joined The Business School faculty at Centennial College in 2007.

Dr. Dharel has been recognized many times for his hard work and commitment to making change. Major awards include an International Leo (Youth) of the Year from Lions Clubs International, USA and a Honorary Medal from the Government of Mongolia, the highest medal for a foreign citizen awarded for his outstanding work supporting public enterprises as an international marketing consultant. In 2017, he received an Outstanding Asian Canadian Award from the Canadian Multicultural Council, and last year he made the short list of RBC’s Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Award nominees.
